Creating a Storyboard from a Screenplay PDF File

This workflow is designed for users with a prepared script in a screenplay PDF format.
1: Start the Process
- In the left-side menu, navigate to the Dashboard.
- Select the fourth option.
- Upload a screenplay PDF file and let our AI extract the scenes and generate shotlist.
2: Provide Storyboard Details
- In the drawer, provide the storyboard title, define the aspect ratio, and language from the drop-down lists.
- If your screenplay uses scene separators other than INT and EXT, type the custom separator in the provided field and click Add Separator.
- Remove the default separators if they don’t apply.
3: Upload the PDF
- Click Upload PDF to upload your file.
- Select the file and click Open.
- Note: The maximum size allowed is 5MB, and only PDFs in screenplay format are accepted.
- Uploading a file not in this format will result in a failure.
- Click Submit to create the new storyboard.
- You will be taken to the list view within the Storyboard tab.
4: Extract and Review Scenes
- AI will extract the scenes from your PDF.
- You can review and edit the scene text.
- Click Submit to save the changes.
5: Generate Shots
- For each scene, click Generate Shots to let the AI create shots.
- If you’re not satisfied with the created shots, you can ask the AI to regenerate them.
- Characters and locations will be created automatically if they don’t already exist on the platform.
6: Add Scenes and Shots
- To add a shot, click the + button at the end of the row.
- Enter the title and description in the textbox.
- To save, click the + button again at the end of the row.
- To add another scene, click the + button at the middle of the page.

- Enter the scene title in the modal and click Create.
7: Edit and Organize
- To edit a scene or shot title or description, click on them and make the changes.
- Rearrange scenes by dragging them to desired positions.
- Similarly, rearrange shots within scenes or to other scenes.
- To delete a scene or shot, click the corresponding trash bin icon and confirm the action.
- To modify the shot details, click the edit icon. You will be redirected to the frame view.
8: Finalize
- The storyboard summary shows how many shots there are and other details.
- Once you are satisfied with the concept and script, click Generate Images to proceed with generating the pictures.
